Po víkendové zprávě, v níž se Phil Collins omluvil za svůj úspěch a odporoučel se z hudební scény, se objevila řada matoucích zpráv. Naděje fanoušků na chvíli vzkřísil hudebníkův mluvčí, který vehementně tvrdil, že jeho klient nic takového nechystá. Opak je ale pravdou - sám zpěvák nyní přiznal, že se se světem showbusinessu skutečně loučí.
Phil Collins uvedl vše na pravou míru prostřednictvím svých webových stránek. "Končím, takže se konečně mohu stát otcem na plný úvazek," napsal. Má totiž dva malé synky a chce jim už věnovat veškerou svou pozornost.
Zpěvák a bubeník také upozornil své fanoušky, aby nevěřili všem informacím, co se v médiích objeví: "Některé z těch článků ze mě udělaly někoho, kdo to nemá v hlavě v pořádku. Nic z toho ale není pravda."
